Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) have a vital role to play in this campaign of saving Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) victims. All high-footfall areas in Indian cities need to have installed AEDs but fewer installations exist.
We urge individuals, philanthropists, authorities, Trusts, Foundations, NGOs, companies and organisations to come forward to donate AEDs. These may be installed at airports, police stations, railway stations, metro stations, bus stations, courts, malls, shopping centers, multiplexes, swimming pools, schools, colleges, libraries, stadiums, housing complexes etc.
If affordable, any household with elderly people and/or people with heart problems, should consider buying an AED for use
during a SCA emergency at home. If an AED is at hand, it may not be necessary to carry out CPR for long, since the AED can be rigged-up for use within a few minutes.
Listed below are the reputed manufacturers/suppliers of AEDs and donors may contact them directly. Only ‘Biphasic’ AEDs must be considered and unit prices range from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh. To operate the AEDs, these companies would also train security staff or administrative staff or caretakers based at the location of installations.
